Steps to enlightenment

   February 2007    Myanmar

oolongs backgammon match versus buddha was main topic in Bagan for quite a while and even eclipsed his victory over Ken – “the prime minister” during the All Indian eXtreme Backgammon Trophy. Ken was so thrilled by oolong's stories touching backgammon heaven that he planned to do the same. But how if there is no buddha around? Exactly!

Xavi has a lot of potential but as a eXtreme Backgammon rookie he had to learn the hard way. Sitting somewhere in Spain and chilling in the shade during siesta and moving checkers around the board is chill. There is a different skillset needed to compete at an extreme backgammon level. Ken was close to backgammon heaven while Xavi was fighting vertigo… A valuable 17-0 lesson.

Xavi should not be too sad - every upcoming eXtreme Backgammon player will struggle once in a while. It's gonna work out fine next time!
