Halloween Surf Sessions
April 2011
Ireland
"Trick or Treat" and costume parties are kind of outfashioned these days. It's boring and nobody really cares about it any longer. But why give up if you can shift it up to another level - in a truly surf extreme backgammon'ish way? So, let's cancel the whole party crap and move the action to the west coast of Ireland, right to the heart of lovely Bundoran and it's (usually big, messy and choppy) beach break: Tullan Strand. So if conditions suck (which might happen) - what better to do than kill some time (and opponents) with a serious backgammon session. Anu and Tilek are bringing it on and what seems to be some sort of Halloween replacement quickly turned into a serious fight with lot's at stake.
Anu wins!

This could be described as one of the tougher matches, menacingly played without mercy, saber rattling included. At first it seemed as if Tilek could stand a chance, bringing all of his analytical skills into bear.
It's pretty obvious what happened to Tilek during the end and what pushed him inevitably towards playing a loser's game: the pirate's inner drive to not lose at all.
Tilek offered a healthy double during the last and final stages of a tight 9 pointer. At first glance, Anu was unimpressed and continued treating dices for now...

But what happened the was a true "halloween shocker" - The pirate inside Anu took over. The double seemed to really be the last straw. One thing from our side: after a deep analysis by the extreme Backgammon crew, it turned out that it was a double and a take as well - but Anu didn't want to mess around any longer and finished the game off 'pirate style'... Flawless victory in the end!

Let's hope Tilek will fully recover and be available for the next backgammon or surf session!
