Keep it up!
August 23, 2006 on 10:40 pm | In Hessam, Jonas | 4 CommentsThe only reason why the leaning tower in Pisa
is still not collapsed is clearly shown on that picture. It´s not all about the high-tech stuff done to keep the thing up - it´s the tremendous amount of hardcore backgammon players moving checkers and tower in the right position! Nuff said
For whom the bells toll…
August 23, 2006 on 10:13 pm | In Hessam, Jonas | No CommentsFantastic! Jonas and Hessam are enjoying the beautiful view there on top of the Chandelier Tower in Massa Maritima. This nice little town in Tuscany is a perfect place to enjoy handmade gelato, a slice of pizza or of course a relaxed eXtreme backgammon! Only problem here is, that it might be a bit loud every full hour… anyways - looks like a perfect place for a 5 point game
Brave the elements!
May 4, 2006 on 7:20 pm | In oolong, schnitzel | 2 CommentsIf this isn´t extreme, what else has the right to be called so? Storm force 9, cold as hell, sitting on an old bombed bunker used as a sleeping place in a lost bay of Sardinia. Two rough players, Schnitzel & oolong, and a fearless photographer (thx to rolllust) risk their lifes for their backgammon fame! Take a closer look and you can imagine who was the winner…
Abysms…
April 29, 2006 on 6:06 pm | In officer dUb, outtabass | 1 CommentIsn’t it insane? Officer dub and outtabass only care about their backgammon game instead of enjoying the stunning views at the Cliffs of Moher. Well, thats perfectly fine - at least from my point of view
. But be carefull guys - playing backgammon so close to a sheer drop off might be exceptionally dangerous…..especially for the loser - hmmmm or the winner?
Sheep go to heaven!
April 27, 2006 on 9:39 pm | In outtabass | 1 CommentIt´s hard to find a sheep interested in playing backgammon…… Well, outtabass got lucky. You can imagine that you can only find sophisticated sheeps like this one in Ireland. But even in Ireland you have to travel all the way to Achill Island to seek smart sheeps like this one. But look out! They really focus, as you can see
Anyways, if you can´t find an adequate sheep in your neighbourhood, just try this!
Backgammon, Tenerovka and a flexible tube…
April 6, 2006 on 10:05 pm | In Jim Jones, officer dUb | 2 CommentsYou need a break once in a while if your are working yourself to death on a plantation located on the beautiful spanish island Tenerife. Imagine watering five billion fruits and vegetables with the flexible tube you see in the background… fucking exhausting! Here you see our brave workers Officer Dub and Jim Jones having a well deserved short rest playing a decent backgammon and drinking a “Tenerovka”, their own juicy creation consisting of Becherovka, Fanta and crushed ice!
Interesting combination!!
Smithwicks vs Guinness
April 2, 2006 on 10:30 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsThere is no doubt about it: Social life in Ireland takes place in - you guess it- a pub. As you can see: the big institution Guinness is challenged by Smithwicks - THE ale in Ireland (author´s opinion…). Hard to say who will win this eternal fight between the mighty one from Dublin and the underdog from Kilkenny. By the way: Smithwicks was born in 1710 and Guinness in 1756 - so there is plenty of experience present - particularly in tight holding games like this one…
The Tart with the Cart
April 2, 2006 on 9:21 pm | In Timmok | 2 Comments“Molly Malone, or Cockles and Mussels, is the unofficial anthem of Dublin City in Ireland. It is sung by supporters of Dublin GAA teams and Irish international rugby team. The song tells the tale of a beautiful fishmonger who plies her trade on the streets of Dublin, but who tragically dies young of a fever.” Yep, this description is scraped from wikipedia, but it pretty much hits the bull´s eye. You can find her at the bottom of Grafton street. Thats where Timmok is usually playing his matches. As you can see, he accepted a double - it was almost a pass - from my point of view - but I think they only played for love…
Check out more information about Molly - but warning: no backgammon information!!!
The straw that breaks the camel’s back…
March 27, 2006 on 9:06 pm | In beholder, oolong | 1 CommentDamn, you probably have no idea how camel farts smell!? You´re lucky! It´s beastly!!! Anyway - the trip into the desert was definitely worth it! It starts to be fun when you are used to sitting on a camel without thinking about John Wayne! And thats the point where backgammon comes in place! I can´t remeber who made it, but oolong was a strong opponent!
Winning the palm!
March 27, 2006 on 8:16 pm | In beholder | No Comments“Come closer and see, see into the trees” - what a nice day that was in Gokarna. Two individuals and a backgammon board - thats all you need to enjoy a good game and the great view at the same time! Off course I doubled the palm out in a thrilling 7 point match! By the way: Do not play versus cows in Gokarna! They are much more aggressive than the holy ones in Arambol
