It was a very well deserved victory in the end. oolong overcame magic, showed incredible strenght - mentally and physically and of course - performed backgammon at a level other regular humans can only dream of! Just one comment about the final which took place in front of the India Gate in Delhi: nobless oblige!

India xbg-trophy - the semis!

April 9, 2007 on 5:24 pm | In oolong, INDIA-XBG-TROPHY, Shree Shree Remmidemmi | No Comments

Hooray! it is time for an update on the “All India eXtreme backgammon trophy“. Once again, the xbg-crew managed to cover this ultimate event to eventually elect the Indian xbg trophy king. The crowd was electrified after oolongs match versus “the Primeminister” but when it came to the semis everybody was besides himself with pure joy. We are covering here oolongs match versus the famous yoga master Shree Shree Remmidemmi - the match too place at a secret place close to holy Ganga
oolong and Shree Shree Remmidemmi - hardcore backgammoning...

Although quitting the yoga scene as it became too commercial Shree Shree Remmidemmi still has “the moves” - you can’t loose sight on that… Instead of earning money now as a truck driver Shree Shree sells “black sausages” - what basically means he is not only a yoga master - he is godlike in bargaining as well… ;-)

Anyhow - his backgammon skills were truly extraordinary but oolong was finally awarded for his inhuman efforts - he made it to the final in a hard fought 17 point match. We are hoping to get an interview with oolong - after the final of course - oolong was busy preparing himself for the final showdown - trying to become one with the dices…

Buddha Backgammon

oolong was still in ecstasy after proceeding to the semi final of the India xbg trophy as he received an invitation to play a friendly match against buddha around the Bagan area. What an incredible privilege! Honour whom honour is due! I do not have to tell you that oolong had no chance at all in the game - doubled down to earth… Buddha was impressively demonstrating that it’s a long and stony way to backgammon enlightenment and that life equals suffering. oolong asked for deliverance…

Burmese roulette!

February 6, 2007 on 8:27 pm | In oolong, INDIA-XBG-TROPHY, XBG-COMPETITION, primeminister | No Comments

The extreme backgammon competition is in full swing (and this one counts!) but we surly do not want to forget about the “All India extreme backgammon trophy“. The xbg crew is still on the road to cover this unique event staged on another upper extremity level. And we are proud to provide you details from one of the quarter finals. It is our backgammon star oolong facing Japanese Grandmaster Ken “the prime minister” Sato.

oolong and Ken

The match took place on the ancient temple site of Bagan / Myanmar. The trophy organizers decided to set an important sign for the people of Myanmar and the world choosing this spot. Although “the prime minister” is up to every trick playing Russian Backgammon for 25 years, oolong eventually won a dramatic game although it looked like Russian Roulette in deciding situations.

oolong made it thus to the semifinal - Congratulations by now for this extraterrestrial performance! Be prepared for more thrilling action! Semis soon!!!

BREAKING NEWS: Insights from the “All India xbg trophy”!

November 27, 2006 on 8:55 pm | In oolong, pejot, INDIA-XBG-TROPHY | No Comments

I am very proud to announce an outstanding update on the currently running “All India extreme backgammon trophy”! We can give you exclusive footage not only from the first round of the tournament! Even more exciting is the secret footage the xbg-crew managed to organize with truly extreme effort and passion!

The first round of this world class tournament took place in legendary and intangible Hampi/Karnataka - what a perfectly chosen spot! oolong and pejot took all the stresses and strains of the intense train camp in Mamallapuram to be in good shape - having in mind that they have to travel to Hampi and dive into the depths of the mystical extreme backgammon world!

Ok - ok I do not want to keep you on tenterhooks any longer! oolong had to play the first match versus Hampi’s finest and famous magician!

oolong's first rounds match versus Hampi's finest and famous magician!

The match took place at an holy spot close to the Hampi river. oolong was a bit nervous at the beginning of the match. You may wonder why! Let me tell you: the magician was in perfect company! Not only his apprentice was with him - there was also this scorpion the magician was showing around before the match! Another thing why oolong lost touch in the early stages of the game was the fact that the magician refused to roll the dices with his hands! Not a huge problem for him - he managed to roll without! Probably a tiny exercise for him… The fact that oolong made it at the end in a unforgettable and thrilling 5-point match shows us that extreme backgammon experience is no hocus-pocus!

Talent and experience is one thing - the other part consists simply of hard work and training! Entering a competition like the “All India xbg trophy” requires not only backgammon skills - there is also the mental balance you have to take care of. oolong and pejot did an outstanding job! And we can give you now exclusive insights on how they prepared for the first round:

oolong pejot preparing for the first round match of the India xbg trophy!

It was very wise to choose a sunset point like this one with a perfect view on the Virupaksha temple. You can focus on your gameplay and simultaneously soak up the magic and energy filled up air.

Pictures say more than a thousands words! True - but what we also have to mention is that the atmosphere towards the end of the train was almost boiling over - pejot came up with some unconventional moves - he offered just too many return shots and almost went crazy on the way back to the village - maybe he could not bear the tension any longer - his opening match was not scheduled yet… We show you now a small piece of unedited footage which shows a perfectly understandable reaction caused by the enormous pressure an extreme backgammon player has to deal with before the start of such an important tournament:

I will not provide a translation - but he is not amused ;-)

The mental balance and the happiness came back right when oolong made it to the last sixteen! What a relief after this first step versus the magician - not only for oolong! pejot realized that there is a lot to achieve for both of them in this tournament! He should not worry too much or fall in doubt about his backgammon skills - problems with some plays are sometimes hard to spot!

oolong was in perfect mood after his exceptional performance and was so nice to share some of his precious extreme backgammon knowledge with a spectator coming all the way from Hospet:

oolong giving some extreme backgammon lessons in Hampi!

Report on pejot’s opening game and oolongs last sixteen match of the “All India eXtreme backgammon trophy” soon! Stay tuned!

Impressive!oolong and pejot are warming up for the All India eXtreme Backgammon Trophy at Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu, India. It’s apparently gonna be a heavy competition!

Well guys, playing 5 point matches holding such a huge stone is truly heroically! Maximum respect! Our backgammon hero oolong also wants to drop a note to our famous leaning tower guys:

Just for the Pisa players: This is no fake… !

As luck would have it, leaning tower expert Hessam is also currently in India! I have to introduce these guys to initiate the extreme backgammon holding titans competition! Let me see - the Charminar Express from Hyderabad to Madras might be the right train….

If this isn´t extreme, what else has the right to be called so? Storm force 9, cold as hell, sitting on an old bombed bunker used as a sleeping place in a lost bay of Sardinia. Two rough players, Schnitzel & oolong, and a fearless photographer (thx to rolllust) risk their lifes for their backgammon fame! Take a closer look and you can imagine who was the winner…

clash on a camel [click to enlarge]

Damn, you probably have no idea how camel farts smell!? You´re lucky! It´s beastly!!! Anyway - the trip into the desert was definitely worth it! It starts to be fun when you are used to sitting on a camel without thinking about John Wayne! And thats the point where backgammon comes in place! I can´t remeber who made it, but oolong was a strong opponent!
